One of the seasonal fun events in spring for Japanese is “Ohanami”, which is viewing the cherry blossoms. We go out to parks and hold outdoor drinking parties under the bloomy cherry blossoms with family members, friends, or colleagues. We spend a pleasant time eating, drinking, chattering, and singing with meal and alcohol drinks like beer or sake.
But the scenery was completely different this year. Because of Covid-19 pandemic, all the park for “Ohanami” were closed. We have been forced to stay at home to prevent outbreak of infection. “Ohanami” park is one of the places that kept people away from entering.
We hope we could have a big “Ohanami” party next year in celebration of wining against Covid-19.
